George Alvin Moore, 83, of Moultrie passed away on Friday, May 20, 2022, at his home with his family by his side.
Born on June 30, 1938, in Moultrie, he was the son of the late Leonard V. Moore and O’Neal E. Cravey Hickey. He was a high school graduate from Mitchell County and attend Moultrie Tech at the age of 60. He was of the Baptist Faith.
Mr. Moore retired from Kevco Industrie where he was purchasing manager and sales rep. He also retired from the recreation Dept.; after 20 years of being the Commissioner of the men’s and ladies' church league slow-pitch softball and was the ASA Deputy Commissioner. During his tenure as director, The City of Moultrie became known as the city of great tournaments. Attracting many nationally ranked teams to Kunck McCray Complex. Several National – State and District Tournaments were held in Moultrie with Mr. Moore as Tournament Director. He was the public address announcer for 19 seasons for the Packers at Mack Tharp Stadium. In 2009 he was inducted into the Colquitt County Sports Hall of Fame. He also was a Gideon for many years. He also enjoyed being a greeter at Baker Funeral Home for many years.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Sandra W. Moore; sister, Louise Lastinger. Grandchild, Jazmine Moore.
Mr. Moore is survived by his sons, Neal Moore, Danny Moore, Derek Moore, all of Moultrie, David Moore and wife Anna, of Newton; daughters, Cindy Fulmer and husband Leon of Moultrie., Suzy Twedell and husband Craig of Moultrie, Beth Moore of Moultrie, Diane Drawdy and husband Ladon of Thomas Co.; grandchildren, April Peterson (Julius), Darin Fulmer (April), Eric Fulmer (Erin), Daniel Drawdy, Aleasa Twedell, Aubrey Drawdy, Lauren Morris (Jesse), Lilly Moore (Danny), Daniel Bicente ( Susey), Kenya Moore, and Emma Moore; great-grandchildren, Cabrea and Ciara Edmonds, Asten, Caden, and Baylyn Fulmer, Elijah, Kaden, and Elizabeth Fulmer, Charlie and Ethan Morris, Ethan and Yara Lopez, Emilio Bicente, Zaul Bictente. Sister-in-law, Mary West and husband Joe of Thomasville; brother-in-law, Charles Watson; Special nieces, Sharon Robertson and Libby Strickland; a special nephew, Hiram Lastinger; And many other special family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Pastor Robert Tillson officiating. Private interment will follow.
A visitation will be held on Monday, May 23, 2022, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home from 6:00 to 8:00.
