Deborah Sue Newton Roberson, 68, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend died on Sunday, December 26, 2021, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 31, 2021, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Andy Cashwell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Ms. Roberson will be laid to rest at Baker/Hillcrest Memorial Gardens at a later date.
Born May 6, 1953, in Moultrie, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Jack Mercer Newton and Nan Edwina Grice Newton.
Deborah was a lifelong member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Over the years, she faithfully served as a Sunday School teacher, choir member, Vacation Bible School, and Children’s Church volunteer and nursery worker. Deborah was an educator in Colquitt County for more than 30 years, primarily at Norman Park Elementary.
Deborah is survived by her children, Jennifer Roberson (Mark Ecklund) of Moultrie and David Roberson (Casey) of Jefferson, Georgia; 2 grandchildren, Rosalyn Roberson of Moultrie and Adalynn Hyatt of Jefferson, Georgia.
She is also survived by 3 sisters, Barbara Rivenbark of Charlotte, NC, Darlene Platte of Charlotte, NC, Regina Kelly (Dennis) of Panama City, FL, and eight nieces and nephews. Deborah was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Jan Rivenbark.
