Andrew Jackson Ricks (veteran, photo) COOLIDGE Andrew Jackson Ricks, 84, of Coolidge, died Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at Heritage Healthcare at Sunrise. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24, at New Hope Freewill Baptist Church with burial in Murphy Cemetery. The Rev. Chuck Scarborough will officiate. Pallbearers will be Aaron Goff, Greg Ricks, Danny Ricks, Sean Ricks, Wendall Ricks and Chris Ervin. Mr. Ricks was born Aug. 4, 1928, in Sylvester, Ga., to the late Joseph Franklin Ricks and Berdie Lee (Saunders) Ricks. He was retired from the U.S. Navy, having served in World War II and Korea, and he was a member of New Hope Freewill Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Elizabeth Goff Ricks; a brother, Brack Ricks; and two sisters, Jewell Corley and Merle Sellers. Survivors include three sons, Edward Franklin Ricks and wife Sara of Coolidge, Jackie Howell Ricks and wife Di of Norfolk, Va., and David Andrew Ricks and wife Connie of Melbourne, Fla.; a brother, David Glenn Ricks and wife Lillian of Norman Park; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. today, Sept. 23, at Baker Funeral Home. Donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Arrangements have been entrusted to Baker Funeral Home.
