Annie Ruth Barton Tanner, 96, of Norman Park, died Thursday, June 27, 2019 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at 3:00 pm at Norman Park United Methodist Church with Rev. Al Lewis officiating. Interment will follow in Deep Bottom Cemetery. Chris Tanner, Jeremy Tanner, Matt McClure, Chan Layson, Scot Odom, and David Odom will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Cromer, Thad Cromer and Cade Cromer.
Born on January 24, 1923, in Geneva, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Rufus Alcus Barton and Nancy Emma Crews Barton. She was a 1943 graduate of Florida State School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse for 52 years, retiring from Colquitt Regional Medical Center, and was a member of Norman Park United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Lee Tanner; brother, Harvey L. Barton; and sister, Dorothy Barton Rollag Forry.
Mrs. Tanner is survived by her son, Jerry Barton Tanner and wife Sheri of High Springs, Florida; daughters, Lynn Tanner Odom of Ashburn, Nancy Tanner Wilkes and husband Ronald of Norman Park, and Mary Tanner Key and husband Danny of Tifton; grandchildren, Teresa Odom Cromer and husband Ricky, Scot Odom, David Odom, Laura Wilkes Reed, Laci Wilkes Hoskins and husband Sean, Jenny Key Layson and husband Chan, Rachel Key McClure and husband Matt, Jeremy Tanner and wife Amy, Chris Tanner and wife Katie; and 20 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 30, 2019 from 1:30pm - 3pm, prior to the service at Norman Park United Methodist Church.
