Arlie J. "Hot Rod" Summerlin, 75, of Moultrie, died Sunday, June 16, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 19, 2019 in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Rev. Corey Shiver, Rev Stanley Norman, and Cathy Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Brandon Summerlin, Chris Summerlin, Tyler Houston, Brandon "Jerry" Walters, Michael Connell, Roger Price, and Dustin Houston will all server as pallbearers.
Born on January 16, 1944, in Moultrie, Georgia, he was the son of the late John Luther Summerlin and Lottie Murphy Summerlin. He retired from Shaw Industries and was a member of Christian Life Center.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Therrell "T.R." Summerlin and brother in law, Bill Pifer.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Fletcher Summerlin of Moultrie; children, Lavon and Pam Summerlin of Moultrie, Tammy and Joey Connell of Moultrie, Craig and Sherri Summerlin of Doerun, Johnny Summerlin of Moultrie, Tonya and Greg Houston of Moultrie, and Cathy Johnson of Moultrie; grandchildren, Sandi Prine, Britni and Brandon Walters, Joni and Roger Price, Brandon and Rebecca Summerlin, Chris and Kayla Summerlin, Michael and Hillary Connell, Tyler Houston, Dustin Houston, and Erika Summerlin; great grandchildren, Ryan Price, Natalie Price, Chloe Reese, Racheal Summerlin, Aubrey Price, Cadie Summerlin, Colton Walters, Zander Connell, Cheyanne Summerlin, and Brinley Walters; brother, Gary and Jan Summerlin of Sylvester; sisters, Carolyn and Ray Pyles of Byron, and Gwen Pifer of Moultrie; Several nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Wylene Montgomery.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 from 6pm - 8pm, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home.
