Arthur David Hurst Norman Park Arthur David Hurst, 79, of Norman Park died Monday, Aug. 12, 2013, at his residence. Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 15, at Unity Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jerry Ingles officiating. Born July 9, 1934, in Pavo, Ga., he was the son of the late Arthur Hurst and Evelyn Jordon Hurst. He was a retired truck driver and of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his wife, Vearlene Harper Hurst, of Norman Park; five sons, Leon David Hurst and wife Debbie of Texas, Danny Hurst and wife Liane of Flint, Mich., James Lowery Dempsey of Florida, Decker Elzie Dempsey of Norman Park and Ollie David Hurst and wife Mary Frances of Moultrie; two daughters, Barbara Ann Crews and fiancé William Shultz of Ray City and Cathy Spradley and husband Oree of Valdosta; three brothers, Tommy Hurst of Nashville, Horace James Hurst of Valdosta and James Fred Hurst of Mississippi; six sisters, Jewell McCullers of Sylvester, Mary Alice Spriggs of Valdosta, Carol Sue Cubino, Joyce Cantrell and Faye Rickman, all of Hahira, and Diane Roberson of Valdosta; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bobby Hurst. Arrangements have been entrusted to Baker Funeral Home.
