Ben Dubignion McKellar, 88, of Norman Park, passed away Monday, January 22, 2018 at Pruitt Health. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Ray officiating. Interment will follow at Wright's Chapel Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Cash Lowry, Scott Miller, Jeffery Fillyaw, B.J. McKellar, T.J. McKellar, Avery McKellar, and Dalton Fillyaw. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Kennedy, Lonnie Truett, George Owens, Ray Saunders, Timmy Ray, Rodney Hurst, Charlie McKellar, and Berry McKellar. Born on May 28, 1929 in Sylvester, Georgia, he was the son of the late Joseph Henderson McKellar and Nellie Barfield McKellar. He was a farmer and a member of Bethel Baptist Church of Omega. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Michael McKellar; brothers, Frank McKellar, J.J. McKellar, James McKellar, and Lee McKellar; and sister, Vernell Boatwright. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Ann Alexander McKellar of Norman Park; sons, Terry McKellar of Norman Park; daughters, Kay Lowry (Lonnie) of Norman Park, Vicki Kennedy and husband Darrell of Norman Park, and Suzanne Ray and husband Timmy of Nashville, GA; grandchildren, Priscilla and Jeffery Fillyaw of Funston, Becky and Scott Miller of Sycamore, Molly Kennedy of Moultrie, Cash and Brooke Lowry of Norman Park, B.J. and Marlen McKellar of Statesboro, Ashley Ray of Canton, Jake Ray of Nashville, T.J. McKellar, Avery McKellar, Jalyn McKellar, and Aidan McKellar, all of Doerun; 9 great grandchildren; brother, Charles McKellar and wife Charlotte of Norman Park; and sisters, Louise Spotanski of Norman Park, Ann and Brian Collins of Tifton, and Dolly Crumley and husband Henry of Omega. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home from 6pm-8pm. Arrangements have been entrusted to Baker Funeral Home.
