Bernice Sanders' Story NORMAN PARK - Bernice Sanders Megahee, 89, of Norman Park, Georgia, passed away at Agape Rehab Center of Moultrie, Georgia on Wednesday, July 6, 2016.Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, July 9, 2016 at Baker Funeral Home Chapel with Ty Megahee and Reverend Dudley Cook officiating. Interment will be at Big Creek Cemetery, Thomas County, Georgia.Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 AM prior to service.Active pallbearers will be James Lastinger, Terry Tillman, Bob Meister, Ty Megahee, Jon Tanner Megahee, and Joseph Lewis.Mrs. Megahee was born on December 7, 1927 in Jackson, Mississippi to the late Olie and Mattie Mae Sanders. On June 6, 1946 she married Thomas Gene Megahee, Sr. They moved to Athens, Georgia, where she completed high school and after serving as a hospital technician in India during WWII, Mr. Megahee completed pharmacy school. The couple later moved to Norman Park, opened a "Dime" store which later merged with Megahee Pharmacy.She was a dedicated wife of 68 years and loving mother to four children. She lived a Christian life and was member of First Baptist Church of Norman Park. She is survived by three children; Tom Megahee of Houston, Texas; Ann Adams and husband Gary of Norman Park, Georgia; Jeff Megahee of Athens, Georgia; three grandchildren; Ty Megahee and wife Susan and great-granddaughter Mallory Kate of Bowling Green, Kentucky; Josi Megahee Lewis and husband Joseph and great-granddaughter Baylie Anne of Camilla, Georgia, and Jon Tanner Megahee of Norman Park, Georgia; a daughter-in-law; Dede Megahee Hall and husband Greg; and one niece and one nephew.She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, son; Thomas Gene Megahee, Jr.; and sister; Texie Mae Sills.Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Norman Park, Georgia, 31771.
