Betty Jean Evans Devine, 79, of Moultrie, died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2016, at Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta, Ga. Services will be held Saturday, Jan. 9, at 11 a.m. at Baker Funeral Home with the Rev. Chris Hilliard officiating. Interment will follow at Hopewell Church Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Wayne Dismuke, Marty Dismuke, Marco Devine, Eric Phillips, Chris Root, and Chris Adderton. Born on June 30, 1936, in Berlin, she was the daughter of the late Pervin L. Evans and Bessie Leona Hopper Evans. She was a retired school bus driver for the Colquitt County Board of Education, a homemaker, and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Howard Devine; and brothers, Earl Evans, Elton Evans, Marvin Evans, Vernon Evans, and Benny Evans. Survivors include her sons, James Peterman Jr., and Wife Tammy of Moultrie, Don Peterman and wife Teresa of Moultrie, Richard "Buddy" Peterman and wife Alison of Valdosta, and Phillip Devine and wife Karen of Moultrie; her daughter, Debra Ethridge and husband Ronald of Moultrie; brother, Bobby Gene Evans and wife Gretchen of Newnan, Ga.; sisters, Wynelle McMillian of Moultrie, and Doris Curles and husband Willie of Albany; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren.
