Born on December 22, 1938, in Worth County, he was the son of the late John Henry Gunn and Lee Ola Cory Gunn. He was a dedicated man, who retired after 30 years at Bridgeport Brass Company as the plant supervisor. Billy was a true outdoorsman at heart. He had an unwavering love for the woods, where he spent countless hours hunting and fishing, creating lifelong memories with friends and family. His deep connection to nature was reflected in his appreciation for the simple joys of life. In his free time, Billy was an avid NASCAR fan and a lover of classic westerns, often spending weekends watching races or enjoying his favorite movies. He was a man who lived life with passion, especially when it came to his cherished trips to the Apalachicola National Forest — fondly known by him and his friends as "the swamp."

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Evelyn Johnson Gunn; son, Peter Gunn; brothers, Van Lee Gunn, Lamar Gunn; and sister, Mae Gunn Newell.

Mr. Gunn is survived by his daughter, Shellie Samantha Gunn Phillips and husband Timothy of Moultrie, Georgia; grandchildren, Tim Phillips, Jr. and wife Kerra, and Cannon Phillips; great grandchildren, Myles Phillips, and Sage Phillips; and special life partner, Pamela Hartman.
