Billy "Bill" Nathaniel Rentz, 76, of Doerun, passed away on Monday, August 28, 2017 at his residence. Funeral service with Military Honors will be held on Friday September 1, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Moultrie with Rev. Wayne Woods and Rev. Julian Griner officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Casketbearers will be Ronnie Purvis, Ron Purvis, Larry Capan, Audie Rowe, Brian Hill, and Jim Cox. Honorary pallbearers will be George Whitfield, Darvin Eason, E.D. Wetherington, Jimmy Davis, Alton Chancey, J.D. Clark, John Wilkes, and the Bob Craft Sunday School Class. Born on August 6, 1941 in Cook County, Bill was the son of the late Charlie Rentz and Zelma Griffin Rentz. Bill graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in Agronomy and was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. He was a veteran of the Unites States Air Force, serving during the Vietnam conflict. He retired from Colquitt EMC as a certified energy auditor. He loved to travel, being outdoors, and woodworking in his shop. Bill's longtime friends were so special to him but he enjoyed making new friends and always had a story to tell. Bill was a member of Moultrie First Baptist Church. Bill valued his membership with the Gideon's International and was a long time American Red Cross volunteer, responding to many local and national disasters.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Barry Purvis. Survivors include his wife, Patricia Hill Rentz of Doerun; sons, Kevin Rentz of Monmouth, Oregon and Kyle Rentz and wife Kelly of Palmer, Alaska; the proud grandfather of his two beautiful granddaughters, Jessica Rentz and Charly Rentz, both of Palmer, Alaska; brother, Charles Rentz and wife Mary Jo of Tallahassee, FL; sister, Nadine Capan of Panama City, FL; and several nieces and nephews. Flowers are accepted or donations can be made in his memory to the Gideon's International Moultrie Camp P. O. Box 1322 Moultrie, Ga 31776.
