Carl William May

Carl William May, 79, of Moultrie, passed away on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at the Agape Health and Rehab. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, April 27, 2017 in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Bro. James "Shot" Sellers officiating. Interment will follow at Baker/Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Casketbearers will be Mike Mercer, Earnie Dukes, Jeff Johnson, Willard Walker, Todd Moser, and Duck Bozeman. Born September 1, 1937 in Maysville, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Gilbert and Flossie Keplinger May. He graduated from West Virginia University at Morgantown, West Virginia, with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture degree. He spent many years in and near Harrisonburg, Virginia where he was a dairy farmer and raised broiler chickens. He was an active member and officer of the Young Farmer Association and he also was a member and held office in the Ruritans, and other civic organizations. When he moved to Moultrie, He worked with Mobley Plant Company and then worked as pullet manager with International Poultry Breeders in Norman Park, where he later Retired. He was a member of Grace Free Will Baptist Church, where he served on the trustee board for several years and was always available to help "fix things up" until his health began to fail in the past few years. Carl was also an avid deer hunter and enjoyed going "back home" to West Virginia to climb those hills and get in to the deer woods with his brothers, sister in law, and nephews. Survivors include his wife, Jane Ivey May of Moultrie; sons, Jeff May and wife Tammy of Lees Summitt, MO, Jason May and wife Kimberly of Mt. Solon, VA, and David May and wife Ginny of Grottoes, VA; daughters, Nikki Watson and husband Jeff and Beck May, both of Bridgewater, VA; Stepchildren, Jeanie Moser and husband Todd and Reggie Holder, both of Moultrie; grandchildren, Adam May , Gilbert May, Ashley May, Katie Scarlett May, Carly May, Aubrey May; step granddaughters, Ivey Jane Lewis, Reese Moser and Loren Moser; brothers, Charles May and wife Geneveive of Maysville, WV, Haven May and wife Joan of York, PA; sisters, Lydia Haggerty of Purgitsville, WV, Elva Shifflett and husband Kenny, of Harrisonburg, VA and Leatha May. Visitation will be from 1:30pm- 3:00pm prior to the service in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home. The family may be contacted at 199 Lake Spring Dr. Moultrie, GA 31768.
