Carl Winfred Strickland, 81, of Moultrie, passed away on Thursday, February 17, 2022, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, February 20, 2022, at Mount Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Andy Cashwell officiating. Interment will follow at Baker/Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Wyatt Turner, Weston Turner, Evan Halik, Austin Evans, Jason Peckham, Harry Thompson, Joey Thompson, and Mike Roberson will all serve as pallbearers. The Colquitt Co. Sportsmen’s Club will be honorary pallbearers.
Born on September 28, 1940, in Moultrie, Georgia, he was the son of the late Carl Minor Strickland and Louise Truett Strickland. He was a graduate of Moultrie High School’s class of 1958. Served in the United States Army National Guard, retired from the United States Postal Service after 36 years of service, a retired farmer, and was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church. Mr. Strickland was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was a charter member of the Colquitt Co. Sportsmen’s Club, a Mason of the China Grove Lodge, and also a Shriner. He enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves, coaching the local softball teams, and watching the Colquitt County Packers play every chance he could.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Green.
Mr. Strickland is survived by his loving wife, Martha Ann Whisnant Strickland of Moultrie; son, Scotty Strickland and wife Michelle of Powder Springs, Georgia; daughter, Penny Strickland Turner and husband Greg of Hahira; grandchildren, Wyatt Turner, Weston Turner, both of Hahira, Evan Halik and wife Jordyn of Austell, Georgia, and Collett Halik and Austin Evans of Rockmart; great-grandchild, Ellis Halik; special caregiver and friend, Annie Ludden of Moultrie.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 20, 2022, from 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm at Mount Olive Baptist Church.
