Carolyn Hortman Everett DOERUN Carolyn Hortman Everett, 75, of Doerun, died Sunday, April 7, 2013, at her residence. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., today, April 9, at Doerun United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Benton officiating, assisted by the Rev. Susan Beverly. Burial will follow in Doerun City Cemetery with Jared Bridges, Jonathan Bridges, Bill Yearta, Eddie Kifer, Elkin Chatman and Marty Hortman serving as pallbearers. Born Oct. 16, 1937, in Doerun, she was the daughter of the late Horace S. Hortman and Susie Hooks Hortman. She was a housewife and owner of several small businesses including, Jan N Me dress shop in Doerun. She was a member of Doerun United Methodist Church, where she had served many different roles. She was also a member of the United Daughters of the Confederacy and a past member of the Doerun Boosters. She was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Charles Jefferson Everett; a son, Michael John Everett; brothers, Glen Hortman and David Hortman; and sisters, Lera H. Fletcher and Yuba Jean Glausier. Survivors include a son, Jeff Everett and wife Amanda of Doerun; a daughter, Beth Bridges and husband Cliff of Doerun; a brother, James O. Hortman of Moultrie; grandchildren, Lana Everett, Carrie Varnadoe, Jared Bridges and wife Marianne, Jonathan Bridges and wife Marilee and Gabrielle Everett; a great-grandchild, Carter Bridges; and several nieces and nephews. Donations may be made to Doerun United Methodist Church, Colquitt Regional Medical Center Foundation or a charity of your choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Baker Funeral Home.
