Charles Homer Bannister MOULTRIE - Charles Homer Bannister, 76, of Moultrie, died Monday, July 11, 2016, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Services will be Thursday, July 14, at 10 a.m., at First Baptist Church of Moultrie with the Rev. Wayne Woods officiating. Interment will follow at Baker/Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Casketbearers will be Scott Johnson, Michael Johnson, Blake Pearce, Blaine Pearce, Stuart Thomas, and Grayson Upton. Born on Nov. 11, 1939, in Moultrie, he was the son of the late Charles Henry Bannister and Lona Louise Buckner Bannister. He worked for the Moultrie Police Department and sold insurance for Independent Life and for Southwest Insurance Agency in Moultrie. He was a veteran of the Army, an avid Packer Football fan, and a member of First Baptist Church in Moultrie. He was preceded in death by his wife, Glenda Kaye Upton Bannister. Survivors include his daughter,Wendy Barber and husband Chris of Madison, Ga.; brother, Clemon Bannister and wife Gayle of Douglas, Ga.; sisters, Barbara McNatt of Jacksonville, Fla., Betty Lowder and husband Glen of Valdosta, Ga., Delaine Thomas of Jacksonville, Fla., and Linda Johnson and husband Jack of Thomasville, Ga.; grandchildren Anna Beth Barber and Abby Kate Barber, both of Madison, Ga.; and special friend, Sandy Chafin. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 13, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Baker Funeral Home Chapel. in lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Packer Touchdown Club P.O.
