Clara Ethel Brooks Conger, 94 of Norman Park died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm Tuesday at Baker Funeral Home with the Rev. Donnie Sloan officiating. Interment will follow at Paulk's Chapel Cemetery. Visitation is from 6 to 8 pm on Monday. Casketbearers will be Jake Hurst, Lewis Hurst, Chris Conger, Cameron Conger, Cason Conger and Dean Tucker,III. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles McKellar, Wallace Hurst, David Hurst, Josh Saunders, Freddie Tompkins and Sam Brown. Mrs. Conger was born on Jan. 31, 1919 in Colquitt County to John Edward and Lucille Davis Brooks, both deceased. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl B. Conger; a son, Ronnie Lee Conger; three brothers, William Edward Brooks, Ralph Brooks and John Henry Brooks; three sisters, Pearl Wood, Alice Hill and Josie Hall; two grandchildren; James Conger and Steven Barker; and a great grandchild, Christopher Barker. Survivors include her three sons, Tommy Conger and wife Shelly of Crosland, Huck Conger and wife Wanda of Sumner and Johnny Conger and wife Kathy of Sumner; four daughters, Jane Burgess and husband Jim of Albany, Bobbie Ann Barker and husband George of Norman Park, Earlene M. Powell and husband Van of Sylvester and Faye Tucker and husband Darrell of Sumner; a brother Sam Brooks of St. Petersburg, FL; 38 grandchildren;66 great-grandchilfren; 28 great-great-grandhildren. Arrangements have been entrusted to Baker Funeral Home.
