Donald Lee Brammer, 84, of Moultrie, died Sunday, Dec. 4, 2011, at Archbold Memorial Hospital in Thomasville, after an extended battle with leukemia. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 10, at First United Methodist Church of Moultrie with the Rev. Mark Addington officiating. Born Sept. 18, 1927, in Macon, Mo., He was the son of the late Edgar Lee Franklin Brammer and Lenos Huston Brammer. He grew up in Newbern, Tenn., after his family moved there in 1929. He was a 1945 graduate of Newbern High School and attended Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, Mo. A veteran of the United States Army, he served as a technical sergeant with Army Executive Headquarters, Peiping (now Beijing), China, from 1945-47. Following military service, he returned to his father's livestock business in Newbern. He married Mary Faustina Logan in 1950 and joined Swift & Company in St. Louis, Mo., shortly thereafter. His career with Swift took him from St. Louis to New Haven, Conn., Rochelle, Ill., Peoria, Ill., Marshalltown, Iowa, and finally to Moultrie, where he had resided since 1966. He retired from Swift as the Moultrie plant's procurement manager in 1989. An avid golfer, said his family, he was a member of Sunset Country Club and enjoyed gardening and dancing to big band music. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary F. "Tina" Brammer of Moultrie; two sons, Brett H. Brammer and wife Lynnette Self Brammer of Atlanta and Lee H. Brammer and wife Ashley Smith Brammer of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; one sister, Wilma Hays and husband Ben of Jackson, Tenn.; one cousin, Virginia Fry and husband Wendell of Marietta; and three grandchildren, Logan Brammer, Powell Brammer, and Parker Brammer.
