Doris Alma Lewis

Doris Alma Benton Lewis, 79, died Monday, Dec. 21, 2015, at the Golden Apple.  Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 23, at Baker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Ronald Barrett officiating. Interment will follow at Hopewell Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Tommy Harper, Chris Harper, Ronnie Lewis, Mark Lewis, Alvis Benton, Jr., and Tyler Holmes.  Born on Jan. 31, 1936, in Coolidge, she was the daughter of the late Willie Lee Benton and Beulah Estelle NeSmith Benton. She was homemaker and of the Methodist faith.  She was preceded in death by her husband the late Benjamin Larry Lewis, Sr.; daughter Regina Lewis and two brothers, Larry Benton, and W.L. Benton.   Survivors include her son, Benjamin Larry Lewis, Jr., and wife Penny of Valdosta; her daughter: Cherly Renee Lewis Tyson and husband Clay of Panama City, Fla.; brothers, Alvis Benton and wife Tina of Norman Park, and Herman Sherrod and wife Lisa of Panama City, Fla.; sister, Elizabeth Chance and husband Howard of Thomasville; grandchildren, Jane Lewis of Valdosta, and Thomas Lewis Furr of Panama City, Fla.; and great-grandchildren, Parker Gay and AnnaGrace Gay.  Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to the service on Wednesday, Dec. 23.
