Doyle Key

Doyle Walter Key, 86, of Norman Park sadly left us on August 18, 2024, while at home with his family.

A funeral service will be held at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, August 20, 2024, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Horne and Reverend Michael Baer officiating. The interment will be at Baker/Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home.

He was born November 21, 1937, to Felix Walter and Ollie Bell Johnson Key. After school, Doyle enlisted in the Army and served in Korea. He was known for his talent as a dancer and insistence on singing “Peggy Sue” or “I Want to Walk You Home” at the most inopportune times. Those that knew his love of fishing called him Captain Key. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather; the latter quite possibly due to his love of sharing cheetos and chocolate whoopers.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Merita Key; brothers, Joseph Key, Bennie Key, Mathie Key, Earlie Key, Omer Key, Cecil Key, and Neal Key; sisters, Myrtle Flower, Violet Weaver, and Lucille Smith.

Doyle is survived by his son Rhys Key and his wife Diane; his son Greg Key and his wife Sheila; his four grand-children Travis Key and wife Brooklyn; Magen Wright and husband Donavon; Dillon Key; Dalton Key and his wife Caroline; and his great grand-children Auri Wright, Abram Key, Anduin Wright, Titus Key, Amarie Wright, and Essie Key.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Baker Funeral Home.
