Dudley "Buddy" Hugh Lacey Jr., 80, of Moultrie, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Rev. Tyler Tibbs and Rick Gaston officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Westview Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Mr. Lacey's grandsons; Daniel Lacey, Joel Lacey, Jonathan Lacey, Rick Lacey, Corey Lacey, and Brandon Hamilton. Born on April 10, 1937 in Brooks Co., Georgia, he was the son of the late Dudley Hugh Lacey, Sr. and Frances Adams Lacey. Buddy served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Moultrie First Church of the Nazarene where he served as a board member and the Choir Director for several years. After three years of service in the Army, Buddy started working as an insurance sales representative, which led him to meet the love of his life, Betty Wilson Lacey. Prior to moving to Nashville, He started working in the automotive parts industry at Thomasville Sales Co. and with Howard Webb Motor Co. Buddy then moved to Moultrie where he became the Parts and Service Manager of McKellar Motors, retiring after 25 years of faithful service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Betty, who has been waiting for him in their heavenly home since 2011. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Waymon Lacey, Coy Lacey, and Earl Lacey; and sister, Lois Eddings. The legacy he leaves behind is one of love and devotion for his Heavenly Father, his family, and his career. He will forever be in the hearts of his four children; Dr. Tim Lacey and his wife Sandy of Jamestown, OH, Ricky Lacey and his wife Gidget of Moultrie, Penny Certain and her husband Richard of Moultrie, and Joy Hamilton and her husband Trampus of Valdosta. Buddy also leaves behind 13 grandchildren: Daniel Lacey (Mandi), Joel Lacey (Amber), Jonathan, Joshua, Shauna, Benjamin, Rick Lacey (Nikki), Corey Lacey (Leeann), Ry Bates, Erin Fulmer (Eric), Shanna Certain, Brandon, and Lacey Hamilton along with 13 great grandchildren and three sisters: Rubye Dove of Cairo, Frances Dene Croft (Edgar) of Thomasville, and Mary Odom (Bobby) of Villa Rica. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home from 6pm-8pm. Arrangements have been entrusted to Baker Funeral Home.
