Edith Carolyn Murphy

Edith Carolyn Carlton Murphy, 89, of Moultrie, died Tuesday, September 24, 2019 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, October 5, 2019 in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Grantham officiating. Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memory Gardens.
Born on May 16, 1930, in Colquitt Co., Georgia, she was the daughter of the late James Franklin Carlton and Carrie Dell Taylor Carlton. She retired from civil services and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Moultrie.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Murphy; brothers, Ronnie Carlton and H.B. "Bucky" Carlton; and sister, Helen Peacock.
She is survived by her son, Jeffrey Burns of Colton, California; stepsons, Mike Murphy and Eddie Murphy, both of Moultrie; grandchildren, Monique Murphy and Laura Murphy; 4 great grandchildren; brothers, James Carlton and wife Joyce of Brenham, Texas and Gene Carlton and wife Ann of Plano, Texas; and sisters, Rebecca Evans of Atlanta, Georgia and Mary Diver of Frederick, Maryland.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, October 5, 2019 from 10:00am - 11:00am prior to the service in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home.
