Emery Jackson Suber, 102, of Moultrie, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at Unihealth-Magnolia Manor South. Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 23, at Baker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Eddie Dee officiating, assisted by the Rev. Pleasant Grant Vause. Burial will follow in Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens with Glen Godwin, Greg Godwin, Kendall Godwin, Edward Turner, Jared Turner and Gerald Suber Jr. serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Ken Overman and Matt Overman. Born Jan. 7, 1909, in Thomas County, Ga., he was the son of the late Walter Manuel Suber and Mary Carr Suber. He owned and operated Auto Parts Supply Store and was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during W.W.II. He was a member of Christian Crusade Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Florence Suber and his second wife, Ethel Suber; and brothers, Lee Suber, Edward Suber, Jessie Suber, Leslie Suber, Cortez Suber and Clyde Suber. Survivors include his step-son, Lonnie Horton and wife Carrie of Moultrie; step-daughter, Helen Chafin and husband Mark of Moultrie; three step-grandchildren, Sandra Overman, Johnny Horton and Leann Davis; six step-great-grandchildren, Matt Overman, Katie Overman, Sidney Horton, Justin Strickland, Ryan Mathis and Tristain Davis; Gerald and Shirley Suber and many other nieces and nephews.
