Flara Bell Aldridge Allman, 91, of Moultrie, died Monday, Feb. 13, 2012, at her residence. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 16, at The Moultrie Church of Christ with Larry Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in Cool Springs Freewill Church Cemetery in Norman Park with grandsons, Ellik Hawkins, Drew Cooper, Cory Cooper, Kyle Durham, John Durham, Glenwood Allman Jr., Thomas Jarrell III, Timothy Mayo, Christopher Mayo, Ronnie Mayo, Mark Mayo, Michael Allman and Matthew Rud serving as pallbearers. Born Aug. 3, 1920, in Ware County, Ga., she was the daughter of the late John Matthew Aldridge and Mary Margaret Thrift Aldridge. She was a volunteer for the Red Cross for many years and she was of the Christian faith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wiley Benjamin Allman; a son, Glenwood Allman Sr.; son-in-law, Thomas Jarrell Jr.; daughter-in-laws, Brenda Allman and Joan Marks Allman; seven brothers; and three sisters. Survivors include sons, John Allman of Moultrie and Wiley Allman and wife Annette of Tallahassee, Fla.; daughters, Charlotte Mayo and husband Sam of Loganville, Ga., Katherine Durham and husband Carl of Mansfield, Ga., Alice Prophater and husband Steve of New London, N.C., Janet Cooper and husband Stan of Hahira, Ga., Robyn Rud and husband Jim of Indian Mound, Tenn., and Joyce Jarrell and Denise Cooper, both of Moultrie; 24 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
