Geraldine Wetherington Merritt, 76, of Moultrie, died Friday, April 13, 2012, at Heritage Healthcare at Sunrise. Graveside services will be held 4 p.m., Sunday, April 15, at Murphy Cemetery with the Rev. Donnie Sloan officiating. Born June 16, 1935, in Moultrie, she was the daughter of the late Tom Tucker and Rose Borders Tucker. She was a homemaker and seamstress. She was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and the great-granddaughter of Elder Henry Crawford Tucker. She was preceded in death by her first husband Leonard Lawrence Wetherington; a son, Leonard Wetherington; brothers, Floyd, Tom, Wilburn, George, David, Gene Tucker; sisters, Ethelene Sloan and Vera Pyles; Survivors include her second husband, Ray Merritt of Moultrie; daughters, Teresa Gay and husband David of Barney and Delesa Wetherington of Albany, Ga.; brothers, Darrell Tucker and wife Faye of Sylvester, Ga.; sisters-in-law, Violia Tucker of Quitman, Ga., and Mignon Tucker and Jeanette Tucker, both of Tampa, Fla.; grandchildren, Emily Venet and husband Chip of Moultrie, and Suzanne Hogencamp and husband Kevin of Jacksonville, Fla.; and great-grandchildren, Kate, Braden and Ava Venet and Abby and Garrett Hogencamp.
