Glynn Earl Mathis JACKSONVILLE Glynn Earl Mathis, 71, of Jacksonville, Fla., died Friday, Jan. 18, 2013, at West Jacksonville Health and Rehab. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Wesley Chapel with the Rev. Steven Croft officiating. Burial will follow in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Born Oct. 30, 1941, in Nashville, Ga., he was the son of the late Tally Columbus Mathis and Maud Ella DeVane Mathis. He was retired from the City of Jacksonville's public works department and was of the Methodist faith. He was a Mason since Nov. 21, 1969. He was preceded in death by brothers, Ralph Mathis, Clarence Mathis, T.C. Mathis Jr. and Julian Mathis; and sisters, Lunell Gaskins, Myrtice Gaines and Eloise Hargraves. Survivors include a brother, Elwood Mathis of Orlando, Fla.; a sister, Marjorie Croft of Columbus, Ga., and Emily Sue Smith of Moultrie; and a multitude of nieces and nephews.
