Harry Slocumb Pitchford, 89 of Valdosta, died Friday March 29, 2019 at South Georgia Medical Center after a brief illness.
Funeral service will be at 2:00pm Sunday, March 31, 2019 in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home, Moultrie. Interment will be at Funston City Cemetery. Pallbearers are Justin Patterson, Nicholas Patterson, John Thomas Patterson, Jarrett Patterson, Lucas Richardson and William Richardson.
Mr. Pitchford was born May 1, 1929 to Walter Hoyle Pitchford and Eva Maude Whitfield Pitchford in Funston. He was Retired from the U.S. Army and was Custodian at Funston Elementary School and of the Methodist Faith. He was loved by his family, especially his wife and he will be greatly missed. He was a good man and husband, he loved to talk about his great grandchildren he loved with everyone and always left them as a friend.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, William Hoyle Pitchford and Walter Van Pitchford; and sisters, Gladys Pitchford Riley, Nellie Pauline Pitchford, Elizabeth Pitchford Crosby and Lila Pitchford Schmacker.
Survivors are his wife Marie Chauncey Pitchford of Valdosta, son, John W. Patterson of Jennings, FL; grandchildren, Tom Patterson and wife Lana of Hahira, Jeff Patterson of Jennings, FL, Michael Patterson and Frank Starkey of New Port Richie, FL; great grandchildren, Justin Patterson, Nicholas Patterson, John Thomas Patterson, Thomas Wayne Clifton, Jarrett Patterson, Levi Patterson and Jessie Patterson; special nephew, Tommy Crosby, II; nieces and nephews, Scott Crosby, Robert Riley, Larry Riley, Jerry Schmacker, Van Pitchford, Carol Nidiffer, Barbara Hare, Carol Pitchford and Barbara Pitchford; special friend Mr. Wallace and his neighbor Randy Hilton.
Visitation will be from 6-8pm Saturday March 30, 2019 in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home.
