Hazel Ray Thompson Sapp, 76, of Norman Park, Ga. and Stafford, Va., died Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 3 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 11, at Baker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Kenneth Kicklighter and the Rev. Stephan Massey officiating. Burial will follow in Baker/Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with Rudene Thompson, Cleve Thompson, Chad Gay, Jarrod Sanders, Will Thompson and Ellis Keen serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Terry Baker, Darrell Thompson, Tim Thompson, Robin McDaniel, Cheyenne Thompson, Delane Thompson, Ronnie Thompson and Eddie Delaney. Born Jan. 14, 1935, in Cook County, she was the daughter of Frank U. Ray and Alice Sapp Ray. She was vice president of Heritage House of Virginia, Inc. and a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby R. Thompson; a son, Steve Thompson; and a brother, Leroy Daniels. Survivors include her husband, Jason Sapp of Norman Park, Ga. and Stafford, Va.; sons, Rudene Thompson and wife Betty of Moultrie and Cleve Thompson and wife Donna Lynn of Rebecca, Ga.; daughters, Lawana Thompson Garren and husband Earnie of Norman Park and Pam Thompson Sanders and husband David of Hartsfield; step-children, Joanne Lee and husband Danny, Suzanne France and husband Tom, Jennifer White and husband David, John Sapp and wife Karen, Daniel Sapp and wife Renee and Vicki Sapp, all of Virginia and Jason Sapp Jr. and wife Vanessa of North Carolina; ten grandchildren; 23 step-grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 14 step-great-grandchildren.
