Hazel Lavern Bates Wilson was born on August 27, 1943, and went to her heavenly home on November 7, 2024, while she was surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Weeks Chapel Church with Reverend Walter Powell officiating. Logan Hampton, Eli Crosby, Daniel Wilson, Wilson Powell, Dell Powell, Jonathan Harvin, Doug Giddens, and Chandler Grimes will be pallbearers.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service.
Hazel graduated from Moultrie High School in 1961. Hazel married the love of her life, Donald Wilson, on October 20, 1961. She was a homemaker and of Baptist faith. Hazel had a generous spirit and enjoyed serving others with radiant joy. Her family, especially grandchildren & great-grandchildren brought her most joy. She was known for her humor, love for laughter, & talent as a seamstress. Hazel was also known for taking pride in whatever she did & always did things to the best of her ability. In conjunction with raising a family, she worked alongside her husband managing the family business, Wilson and Son Construction. Hazel was blessed by her extended work family at Bob’s Athletic Sportswear whom she held near to her heart.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers & sisters.
She leaves behind her brother, Lee Bates (Diane) and children, Lesia Hampton (Mike), Donnie Wilson, Renee Crosby (Dale). Grandchildren; Savannah Harvin (Jonathan), Logan Hampton (Rachel), Daniel Wilson, Allison Powell (Dell), Kellie Giddens (Doug), Bodhi Wilson, Eli Crosby (Elle). Great grandchildren; Millie and Jon Grady Harvin, Whitley Hampton, Wilson and Ella Powell, Hayden Phillips and Chase Giddens, Brody, Penelope and Madelyn Grace Crosby.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Baker Funeral Home.
