Herman D. Wimberly MOULTRIE - Herman D. Wimberly of Moultrie died Monday July 20, 2015 at Pruitt Health Magnolia Manor of Moultrie. Funeral service will be 11:00 AM Thursday July 23, 2015 at Baker Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Eddie Dee and Mike Farmer officiating. Interment will follow in Westview Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Jim Hancock, Jack R. Wimberly, Harold Cook, Ronnie Beasley, Rich Hoffman and Justin Sullin. Mr. Wimberly was born September 12, 1927 in Colquitt County, he was the son of the late Dave C. Wimberly and Kathryn Sellers Wimberly. He was a member of Moultrie First Church of the Nazarene, attended Moultrie High School and served a tour of duty in the United States Air Force. He served as president of I.B.E.W. local # 1531, of Albany and retired as a master electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. An old style fiddle player, he enjoyed jamming sessions with his friends at bluegrass festivals through out the Southeast until his health began to decline. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce on June 1, 2015, his parents and brother-in-law Albert C. Turner. Survivors include son; H. Larry Wimberly and wife Lavonia of Moultrie, two daughters; Vickie J. Riddle and husband Lorin of Valdosta, and Carol J. Saturday and husband Randy of Moultrie, five grandchildren; Lisa Wimberly, Kevin Wimberly and wife Julie, Chris Saturday, Ben Saturday and fiance Sonya and Kimberly Saturday, four great-grandchildren; Kathryn "Kate" Wimberly, Carrie Grace Wimberly, William Harrison and Kara Beth Saturday, sister; Kathryn Hortense Turner of Albany and special friends David Saturday and Justin Sullins. The family will receive family and friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday July 22, 2015 at Baker Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to First Church of the Nazarene. The family may be contacted at the home of Randy and Carol Saturday, 1928 Magnolia Ave., Moultrie, GA. Arrangements have been entrusted to Baker Funeral home.
