Inez Maxwell Mercer, 85, of Moultrie, died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at Unihealth Magnolia Manor South. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 22, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Ronald Barrett officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Church Cemetery with Paul Taylor, Kirby Maxwell, Mike Maxwell, Danny Mercer, Dewayne Mercer and Doug Mercer serving as pallbearers. Born May 7, 1926, in Wilcox County, she was the daughter of John William Maxwell and Nellie Dunnigan Maxwell. She was a homemaker and a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell George Mercer; brothers, Glenn, Herman, and R. B. Maxwell; sister, Frances Coley, Sallie Mae Britt and Pauline Taylor. Survivors include her son, John Mercer and wife Beth of Moultrie; daughter, Pat Dalton and husband Bobby of Norman Park; sister, Estie Howell of Moultrie; sisters-in-law, Carol Weldon of Moultrie and Wanna Ruth Walker of Lakeland, Fla.; brother-in-law, Kenneth Mercer of Gainesville, Fla.; grandchildren, Allen Dalton and wife Miranda of Norman Park, Kelly Dalton and wife Beki of Moultrie, Angie Cooper and husband Johnny of North Carolina, and Robi Jursik and husband Jeff of Moultrie; great-grandchildren, Devin Smith, Beau Dalton, Kenlee Dalton, Sara Land, Shannon Cooper, Lauren Hall, Katie Hall, Anna Jursik and Jason Jursik; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., today, Oct. 21, at the funeral home. Donations may be made to Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
