Jackie Lanier Mixon, 84, of Moultrie, passed away at Colquitt Regional Medical Center on Tuesday, April 1, 2025.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Westview City Cemetery, with Reverend Jackie Cabaniss and Mike Hiers officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:00 AM at Westview Cemetery.

Born on September 17, 1940, in Moultrie, Georgia, he was the son of the late Leon Thomas Mixon and Pearl Martin Mixon. Jackie was a devoted mechanic supervisor for heavy mobile equipment at the Marine Corps Base, where he worked diligently from 1965 until his retirement in 1996. Throughout his career, he was known for his expert knowledge, leadership, and dedication to ensuring the equipment ran smoothly, supporting countless operations at the base. His reputation for hard work and excellence earned him the respect of all who worked with him.

In addition to his career, Jackie was a proud member of the United States Army and the Georgia National Guard, serving for a combined total of 20 years. His commitment to service led him to retire with the rank of First Class Sergeant, a testament to his leadership, discipline, and dedication. His military career shaped him into a man who always put others before himself, and he was a true patriot.

He was an active and devoted member of Kingwood Baptist Church. His commitment to his faith and community was a testament to his character, and he touched many lives through his service and dedication.

Jackie will be remembered for his strength, kindness, and generosity. He was a loving father, grandfather, and friend, always ready with a smile or a helping hand. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched and the values he instilled in those who knew him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Bobby Mixon, Tommy Mixon, and Rex Mixon; and grandson, Caleb Parrish.

Mr. Mixon is survived by his loving wife, Faye Suggs Mixon of Moultrie; daughters, Gina M. Hughes and husband Ricky of Lee County, and Kara M. Parrish and husband Tony of Moultrie; grandchildren, Amanda Dotson and husband Ryan, Jacob Hughes and wife Samantha, and Shelby Paterson and husband Matthew; great grandchildren, Kole Hughes, and Khloe Hughes.
