Jackie Lamar Pate, 72, of Moultrie, died Saturday, April 28, 2012, at his residence. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 1, at Baker Funeral Home with interment at Crown Hill Cemetery in Albany. The Rev. Bobby Brooks will officiate, and pallbearers will be Landon Pate, John and James Scharnikow, Mark Stalvey, Darrell Kimbrell and Jonathan Dismuke. Mr. Pate was born April 21, 1940, in Thomas County, son of the late Emerage Clifford Pate and Idell Cooper Pate. He was senior class president of Pavo High School Class of 1958. He was a member of the Pavo boys basketball team and was a big fan of the Moultrie Packers, his family recalled. He retired as co-owner of Moultrie Post Form. Survivors include his wife, Judy Sprayberry Pate of Moultrie; sons, Greg Pate and wife Wendy and Chad Pate , all of Leesburg, Ga.; daughters, Kimberlynn Curles and husband Wayne of Purceville, Va., and Michelle Scharnikow and husband John of Leesburg; a stepson, Darrell Kimbrell of Moultrie; a sister, Lona McNeil of Opelika, Ala.; grandchildren, Brittany Pate Stalvey (Mark) of Leesburg, Landon Pate of Atlanta, John Scharnikow Jr. of Americus, James Scharnikow of Atlanta, McKenzie Curles of Purceville, Bethanie Kiger of Leesburg, Katelyn Curles of Purceville, Campbell Curles of Purceville, Evan Pate of Leesburg, and Caroline Curles, Kathryn Curles and Wayne Curles II, all of Purceville; and great-grandchildren, Mayson and Marley Stalvey of Leesburg. In addition to his parents, Mr. Pate was preceded in death by his first wife, Margie McMullen Pate; a daughter, Krista Pate; a brother, Bo Pate; and a sister, Claire Mosley.
