James Winfred Giddens age 76 of Moultrie, died Saturday August 27 at his residence. Funeral service will be 3:00pm Tuesday August 30 at Baker Funeral Home Chapel with the Elder Roger McDonald and Josh Purvis officiating. Interment will be in Baker/Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Born May 24, 1940 in Greenville, FL, he was the son of the late Elder Harvey William Giddens and Lillian Louise Ragan Giddens. Mr. Giddens was retired from EMC after 31 years as Maintence Supervisor. He was District II Colquitt County Commissioner. He was an ordained Deacon of the Baptist faith who never wavered on his faith regardless of the circumstances, he always stood on his beliefs. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Faye Smith Giddens; brothers, Johnny Giddens and Farrell Giddens; son-in-law, Steve Purvis and brother-in-law, Kater Hampton. Mr. Giddens is survived by daughters, Lynn Purvis of Moultrie, Pam York and husband Paul of Evans, GA; sisters, Monteen Hampton of Moultrie, Margie Shepperd and husband Charles of West Point, GA, Janice McDonald and husband Roger of Andersville; sister-in-law, Reba Giddens of Moultrie; grandchildren, Josh Purvis and wife Stephanie of Moultrie, Eric York and Ross York of Evans, GA; great grandchildren, Nora Kate Purvis, Cade Purvis and Easton Purvis; special friend, Linda Smith of Norman Park.
