James Jim' Garrett Nelson Sr. (VETERAN) PAVO James Jim' Garrett Nelson Sr., 79, of Pavo, died Wednesday, March 18, 2015, in Jacksonville, Fla. Graveside services will be held 11 a.m., Friday, March 20, at Pleasant Hill Church Cemetery with the Rev. Anderson Pickles officiating. Born April 12, 1935, in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of John Nelson and Margaret Schimdt Nelson. He worked in management for Lockheed Martin Corp. and was a veteran of the United States Army. He was of the Catholic faith. He was preceded in death by a brother; and three sisters. Survivors include his wife, Velma Copeland Nelson of Pavo; sons, James Garrett Nelson Jr. and wife Charlotte of Apopka, Fla., and John Nelson and wife Evelyn of Apopka, Fla.; daughter, Pamela Nelson Dore of Jacksonville, Fla.; and grandchildren, Jessica Nelson, Denny Dore and Amelia Dore.
