LEESBURG James Lamar NeSmith, 76, of Leesburg, Ga., died Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at Phoebe Putney Hospital. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Monday, Aug. 11, at Baker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Winston Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Big Creek Cemetery in Thomas County. Pallbearers will be David Gray, Lewis Archer, Frank Schreiber Shane Raby, Tracey McCook and Rhett Thomas. Born July 7, 1938, in Quitman, Ga., he was the son of the late James Arline NeSmith and Oveline Woods NeSmith. He was retired from the United States Marine Base in civil service and he was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by a sister, Eva Shelley. Survivors include his wife, Doris Suggs NeSmith of Leesburg, Ga.; a son, Charles NeSmith of South Carolina; daughters, Carol Reynolds and husband Ricky of Moultrie, Kathy James and husband Tommy, and Pam Spartman, all of Moultrie, and Jennifer Gray and husband David of Leesburg, Ga.; sisters, Estell Knippa and husband Leonard of Deer Park, Texas and Elaine Ballard and husband Travis of Caledonia, Miss.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
