James Edward Whittington

James Edward Whittington, 86, of Norman Park, Georgia, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023, at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, January 15, 2023, at Baker/Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Born May 12, 1936, in Scooterville, Georgia, he was the son of the late Gip Whittington and Alma Hawkins Whittington. He was an engineer for The Department of Transportation over roads and bridge construction. After retirement, he worked with Southern Concrete and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Van Whittington; brothers, John Wesley Whittington, Algie Whittington, Irvin Whittington, Frank Whittington, and Ellis Whittington; sisters, Mae Bell Pope, Clara Willis, Elaine Chronister, Myrtice Whittington, Mary Francis Whittington, and Virginia Burch Sink.
Mr. Whittington is survived by his wife, Mary Patricia Tripp Whittington of Norman Park; sons, Andrew Edward Whittington and wife Elizabeth of Tallahassee, and David Warren Whittington and wife Page of Sugarland, Texas; daughter, Susan W. Rankin and husband Tommy of Tifton; grandchildren, Andrew Clark Whittington, Ashley Marie Armstrong, Samantha Susan Whittington, Amanda Pearl Whittington, Jayda Lynn Whittington, Noah Van Whittington, Adalyn Claire Whittington, Andrew Chase Whittington, Madalyn Grace Armstrong, and Liam James Armstrong.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to The American Diabetes Association or The Alzheimer's Association.
