Jerry Lester Redding, 66, of Doerun, died Friday, Oct. 28, 2011, at UniHealth Magnolia Manor South. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 1, at New Elm Baptist Church with interment at New Elm Cemetery. The Rev. Paul Voyles, the Rev. Allen Tillman and the Rev. Johnny Nixon will officiate. Pallbearers will be Patrick McCain, Lenny Powell, Jerry Green, Joe McCarty, Darrell Hagin and Eugene Strickland. Mr. Redding was born July 17, 1945, in Thomasville, the son of C.B. Thomas Redding and Beth Delia Norman Redding. A member of New Elm Baptist Church, he was an associate engineer with Windstream Communication. "He loved the Lord and his family," his family said. Survivors include his wife, Debbie Elaine Pye Redding of Doerun; one son, C.B. Thomas Redding of California; three daughters, Nicole Redding Holland and husband Keith of Albuquerque, N.M., Natalie Redding Barrett and husband Alan of Tallahassee, Fla., and Tonya Edwards McMurphy and husband Harold McMurphy Jr. of Moultrie; one sister, Patricia McCain of Moultrie; and grandchildren, Garrett West, Megan West, Ava Holland, and Angell, Joshua and Dallas McMurphy.
