Jimmie Eugene Norman, 83, of Berlin, died Friday, June 5, 2020 at Langdale Hospice House in Valdosta.
Due to the ongoing concerns regarding the COVID-19 pandemic, a graveside service will be held at 10am on July 11, 2020 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Rev. Ty Greene and Bro. Anderson Pickle officiating.
Born on July 9, 1936, in Valdosta, Georgia, he was the son of the late Joseph Curtis Norman and Ruth Prosser Norman. Mr. Norman retired after 30 years from the Valdosta City Police where he served as Captain. He later owned a used car dealership where he worked for over 30 years as well. One of Jimmie's greatest accomplishments was when he trained at the FBI Academy as a National Associate for 3 months in Quantico, Virginia. Mr. Jimmie loved stock car racing and enjoyed racing the #48 car for several years. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Julian Norman, Jack Norman, and Ralph Norman; and sisters, Vivian Colson and Mable Meeks.
Mr. Norman is survived by his loving wife, Vivian Eva Copeland Norman of Berlin; children, Susan Elizabeth Grindle and husband Mike of Whitehouse, Florida, Cathryn June Roth and husband Jerry of Middleburg, Florida, Phillip Cardin, Jr. and wife Jackie of Berlin, and Penny Cardin Loden and husband Bill of Branson, Missouri; grandchildren, Jennifer Apling and husband James, Jeremy Roth and wife Angie, Elaine Fitzsimmons and husband David, Anna Coon and husband Mike, and Grace Loden; great grands, Christian Apling, Charlotte Apling, Wyatt Roth, Elijah Roth, Dawson Fitzsimmons, and Camdyn Fitzsimmons; brothers, Jerry Norman and wife Mary Laura of Valdosta and Charles Norman and wife Pat of Weslaco, Texas; and sister, Sarah McDonald of Valdosta.
In lieu of flowers, the family asked that all donations be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery Fund C/O Kaye Dortch 514 Stephens Rd. Thomasville, Georgia 31757
