NORMAN PARK - Jimmy Carlton Whisnant, 75, of Norman Park, died Friday, April 29, 2016, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday May 2, 2016, at Baker Funeral Home chapel with burial at Cool Springs Cemetery, Norman Park. Pastor Marlin Daniel will officiate. Pallbearers will be Billy Gene Middlebrooks, Joel Griffin, Frank Henson, Buddy Sutton, Justin Bennett and Larry Carr. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the graduation class of 1959. Mr. Whisnant was born Feb. 8, 1941, in Tifton, Ga., to James Paul Whisnant and Lula Belle Allman Whisnant Stewart. He served in the US Coast Guard and was a mem- ber of the Honor Guard at President John F. Kennedy's fu- neral service. He was retired as a regional manager for GoldKist. He was a member of Cool Springs Freewill Baptist Church and of Berlin Masonic Lodge. Survivors include his wife, Jackie Faircloth Whisnant of Norman Park; daughters, Dedi Whisnant Paulk and hus- band Lamar of Doerun and Dana Whisnant Williams and husband Kirk of Hahira; sisters, Martha Ann Strickland and husband Winfred of Moultrie and Judy Whisnant Peckham and husband Ken of Athens; a brother-in-law, Ernest Meeks of Milner; grandchildren, Abbi Beth Paulk, Carlton Paulk, J. Ben Paulk, Gracie Belle Paulk, Paiten Williams and Parker Williams; and his special Boston terri- er friend, "Oreo." He was preceded in death by a daughter, Joy Whisnant; and a sister, Phyllis Whisnant Meeks. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday, May 1, at the funeral home. Arrangement have been entrusted to Baker Funeral Home.
