JoAnn Hatfield Penuel, 76, of Moultrie, passed away on Tuesday, February 22, 2022, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, February 25, 2022, at First Baptist Church Moultrie with Rev. Matt Peek officiating. A private family interment will follow at Baker/Hillcrest Memorial Gardens. Drew Penuel, Ryan Wallace, Rob Wallace, Alex Penuel, Carter Penuel, Will Penuel, and Adam Webb, Mrs. Penuel’s grandsons, will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the church on Friday, February 25, 2022, from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm.
Born on October 11, 1945, in Opelika, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Alton Collier Hatfield & Magaline Chestnut Hatfield. She worked as an educator at R.B. Wright Elementary School where she retired after 34 years. She was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother to her family. She enjoyed serving in many capacities at First Baptist Church Moultrie, where she was a member.
Mrs. Penuel is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Ronald Penuel of Moultrie; sons, Scott Penuel and wife Karenina and Reid Penuel, all of Moultrie; daughter, Leigh Penuel Wallace of Moultrie; grandchildren, Drew Penuel, Jordan Penuel, Carter Penuel, Raley Webb and husband Adam, Ryan Wallace, Rob Wallace, Alex Penuel, Sophia Penuel, Eliza Penuel, and Will Penuel; siblings, Tommy and Gail Hatfield, of Kissimmee, FL, Sue and Brian McFarland of Charlotte, NC, Kathy and Stanley Akins of Statesboro, Mike and Cindy Hatfield of Millsap, TX, and Gail Starnes of Claremont, NC.
