DOERUN Joe Byrd Calloway, 86, of Doerun, died Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at Worth County Hospital. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 20, at Baker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Thomas Morey officiating. Burial will follow in Doerun Cemetery with Larry Don Strickland, Chad Calloway, Jacob Calloway, Brian Jackson, Don Jackson, Tony McCook and Tracey McCook serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Brad Calloway, Brent Calloway, Bobby Myrick and Michael Strickland. Born Feb. 6, 1927, in Logansville, Ga., he was the son of the late Hoyt Columbus Calloway and Lulla Lee Brownlee Calloway. He was retired from Farmers Fertilizer and he was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by, sons, Paul Calloway and Billy Casper; brothers, H.C. Calloway, Owen Calloway, Roe Calloway, Andrew Calloway and James Calloway; and sisters, Louis Cappage, Myrine Weeks, Bernice McClure and Mary Frances Thompson. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Drew Willie Reeves Calloway of Doerun; sons, Larry Calloway of Adel, Ga., and Travis Calloway and wife Lynn of Norman Park; daughters, Christine Pilgrim and husband Bobby of Norman Park, Carolyn Jackson and special friend John of Moultrie, Dale Calloway of Doerun and Diane Morey and husband Thomas of Norman Park; 24 grandchildren; and 40 great-grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren. Visitation will from 4 to 6 p.m., today, Jan. 19, at the funeral home. The family will gather at 301 Bay Ave. in Doerun. Arrangements have been entrusted to Baker Funeral Home.
