NORMAN PARK John Rayford "Pee Wee" Evers, 60, of Norman Park, died Friday, June 28, 2013, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday, July 1, at Baker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Rickey Wells and the Rev. Jimmy Voyles officiating. Burial will be in Paulks Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Toby Tanner, Tommy Lawhorn, Freddie Tompkins, Martin Hurst, Jason Hurst, Jake Hurst, Joey Salter and Tim Ingram. Honorary pallbearrers will be Arron Norman, Timmy Hunter, Wesley Key, Chris Wainwright, Josh Long, Wayne Kelley, Jason Bromlow, Jeremy Henry, James Weeks, Chris Mitchell, Nicholas Burnham, John King, Danny Riggins, Dennis Lamb, James Lewis and Austin Griffin. Mr. Evers was born Feb. 27, 1953, in Ocilla, Ga., son of the late Floyd L. Evers and Rubye King Evers. He was water and sewer superintendent for the City of Norman Park and a member and chairman of deacons at Pine Level Baptist Church. He was chaplain of the Norman Park Volunteer Fire Department, and he was an avid antique collector. Survivors include his wife, Jane Collins Evers of Norman Park; daughter, Rebecca Spampinato and husband Michael of Norman Park; a grandchild, Kylie Spampinato; his mother-in-law, Thelma Patterson of Norman Park; brother, J.W. Hurst and wife Martha of Sumner, Ga.; sisters-in-law, Jan Howren and husband Chris of Moultrie and Shirley Davis and husband James of Tifton; brother-in-law, Frank Patterson and wife Cyndi of Omega; uncle, Oscar Evers and wife Barbara of Irwinville, Ga.; and nieces and nephews, Nolan Howren, Abbey Howren, Mallory Howren and Will Mainor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Lonzo Evers, and a sister, Kathy Evers. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. today, June 30, at Baker Funeral Home.
