Johnnie "J.D" Duncan Cannon, 87, of Norman Park, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Cobblestone Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 5, 2020 in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Rev. John Bell officiating.
Mr. Cannon was born on June 8, 1932 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama. He was the son of the late John Thomas Cannon and Sarah Lucille Flornoy.
He served as the Chief Police of Coolidge for over 20 years, and was the Mayor of Coolidge as well. Mr. Cannon worked at Woodhaven as a Security Guard. In his spare time, he loved to fish and deer hunt. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served during the Korean War. He was a member of Trinity Tabernacle Church in Berlin.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by, his wife, Lena Evelyn Cannon; daughter, Sarah Cannon; granddaughter, Melanie Cannon; a sister, Betty Lavine, and daughter in law, Maria Cannon.
He is survived by his sons, David Cannon of Pavo, Cecil Cannon of Crawfordville, Fl, and Wayne Cannon and wife Donna of Gainesville, Ga; daughters, Elaine Cannon and Yvonne Cannon both of Pavo; grandchildren, Melissa Cannon, Michael Cannon, Matthew Cannon, and Amber Cannon; great grandchild, Alexandria; and great-great grandchild, Jaime.
