Joyce Hooten Davis, 83, of Moultrie, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at her residence. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday, April 12, at Baker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terry Webb and the Rev. Brad Bowen officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery with Brian Davis, Blake Mixon, Paulo Vargas, Keith Summerlin, Rusty Hanna and David Durham serving as pallbearers. Born March 5, 1929, in Rocky Mount, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Oscar Lucious Hooten and Cordell Spillers Hooten. She retired from the City of Moultrie after 37 years in the utilities department. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, the late Grover Warren Davis Jr.; a sister, Miriam Denaburg; and a grandchild, Ashley Scott Davis. Survivors include her sons, Buddy Davis and wife Tina of Dothan, Ala., and Bobby Davis and wife Shirley of Moultrie; grandchildren, Brian Davis and fiancée Erin Gay of Moultrie, Amy Mixon and husband Blake of Madrid, Ala., Jolie Vargas and husband Paulo of Moultrie and Jayna Summerlin and husband Keith of Moultrie; great-grandchildren, Kason and Kylie Davis, Gabby and Jude Vargas, and John Davis and Blair Summerlin; and special niece and nephew, Ann Robertson and Todd Denaburg, both of Birmingham, Ala. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m., today, April 11, at the funeral home. The family can be contacted at 121 Bull Creek Road in Moultrie. Arrangements have been entrusted to Baker Funeral Home.
