Larry Wayne Burgess (photo) ELLENTON Larry Wayne Burgess, 58, of Ellenton, died Monday, Aug. 10, 2015, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 13, at Cross View Baptist Church with burial at China Grove Cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Stanley Norman, the Rev. Ken Baker, the Rev. Chris McPherson and the Rev. John O'Neal. Pallbearers will be Robbie Stanfill, Lamar Hickey, Jeff Baker, Greg McEachern, Bobby Conway and David Conway. Honoray pallbearers will be Sammy Conway, Coy Miller Jr., Robert Bussell, Darrell Passmore, Earl Bishop and Roger Bussell. Mr. Burgess was born Nov. 13, 1956, in Adel, Ga., to the late Vassar Leslie "Buddy" Burgess and Betty Mae Miller Burgess. He was a Hyster lift operator with Nashville Mills. He served five terms on the Ellenton City Council and was a member of the Ellenton Volunteer Fire Department. He was an ASA umpire for 20 years and his family said he was a faithful Atlanta Braves fan and loved the Lord. Survivors include his wife, Pamela Christine Webb Burgess of Ellenton; two sons, Joseph Burgess and Will Burgess, of Ellenton; one daughter, Christy Burgess North & husband Chad of Stockton, Ga.; one brother, Mike Burgess and wife E.J. of Valdosta; one sister, Gail Burgess Baker and husband Larry of Crosland; and four grandchildren, Spencer Sellers, Lathan Burgess, Tristan Burgess and Waylon Burgess. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12, at the funeral home. The family may be contacted at the home of Gail and Larry Baker, 207 Livingston Bridge Road.
