Laura Elizabeth Ivey Bittinger, 92, of Moultrie, died Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 16, at Baker Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Woods officiating. Interment will be in Cobb Suncrest Cemetery. Casketbearers will be Clay Bittinger, Freddie Freeney, Yong Kim, Mike Skripko, Kip Carruthers, Blake Carruthers and Scott Webb. Honorary casketbearers will be Chip Freeney, Brad Freeney, Patrick Kim and Brett Kim. Born Nov. 6, 1920, in Sigsbee, Ga., Bittinger was the daughter of the late Henry Ivey and the late Dorothy Livingston Ivey. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Moultrie and a retired teacher with the Colquitt County School System. She worked at Moultrie Banking Co. and the Moultrie Head Start program. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands R.E.. Bannister and Roy E. Bittinger; a son-in-law, Fred Freeney Sr.; a brother, John Henry Ivey; and two sisters, Myrtis Hortman and Ruby Nell Guy. Survivors include two sons, Donnie Edmund Bittinger and wife Elaine of Columbia, S.C., and Lannie Elwood Bittinger and wife Cindy of Lawrenceville, Ga.; a daughter, Linda Elizabeth Bannister Freeney of Albany; five grandchildren, Freddie Freeney and wife Danna, Leslie Kim and husband Yong, Connie Skripko and husband Mike, Karla Webb and husband Scott and Clay Bittinger; great-grandchildren, Chip Freeney, Brad Freeney, Alex Freeney, Patrick Kim, Brett Kim, Kayla Kim, Drew Webb, Cason Webb, Gabrielle Skripko and Sabrina Skripko. Visitation will be held from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. today, Dec. 15. Donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Moultrie, Colquitt County Historical Society, Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church or Meals on Wheels of Albany.
