Linda Fae Purvis Sands, 72, of Doerun, died Saturday, December 10, 2022, at her home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, in the Chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Pastor Kevin Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Deep Bottom Cemetery in Norman Park. Chris Purvis, Jason Runyon, James Runyon, Justin Runyon, Garrett Stewart, and Don Thompson, will all serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tony Castanon, Jesse Castanon and Rodney Purvis.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 12, 2022 in the Chapel of Baker Funeral Home from 6pm- 8pm.
Born on November 9, 1950, in Moultrie, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Purvis, Sr. and Edna Carver Purvis Hitt and stepfather, Robert Lemar Hitt, Sr. She was a business manager and was of the Baptist faith. Mrs. Sands enjoyed Gardening, fishing, going hunting and dancing. She loved spending time feeding the birds and watching them around her home.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Newton Sands, Jr.; brothers, Jesse Purvis, Jr., Manning Purvis, Daniel Purvis, and Robert Hitt, Jr.; sisters, Jeanette Purvis Moore, Ethell Purvis Regan, and Shirley Hitt Davis; and son in law, Rob Parker.
Mrs. Sands is survived by her loving children, Thomas LaGrande Lamb and wife Jackie of Hartsfield; daughters, Felicia Faye Lamb of Moultrie, and Michelle Walker Parker of Panama City, FL; grandchildren, Brandy Lamb Romero, Lemar Lamb, Justin Rogers and wife Ashley, Marcus Rogers and wife Chasity, Jamie Rogers, Victor Castanon and wife Kaylee Louthan, Antonio Castanon, and Andrew Murphy; brother, Buddy Carol Purvis and wife Ginger of Leesburg; sisters, Dorothy Thompson and special friend Paul Booth of Norman Park, Nancy Purvis of Newton; several great grandchildren, nephews and nieces; special family friend and caregiver, Aurelio (Jose) Aguilar Sales; and her beloved neighbor and visiting friend, Banjo.
The family will not be gathering at this time.
