Lonnie Joe "L.J." Copeland, Sr., 87, of Pavo, died Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Treutlen Health and Rehab in Soperton, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, May 23, 2019 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Voyles officiating.
Born on September 2, 1931, in Brooks Co., Georgia, he was the son of the late Joseph Washington Copeland and Ada Selph Copeland. He worked at Queen Carpet of Tifton for over 20 years, retiring in the late 1990s. His greatest love was farming, enjoying nothing more than working with the hogs, growing a vegetable garden, and fixing anything that was broken. Mr Copeland was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Darlene Lane Copeland; daughter, Janet Copeland; and siblings, Lois (Ellis) Dees, Alma (Charlie) Garner, Geneva (Gerald) Timm, Lester (Brenda) Copeland, and Verna (Danny) King.
He is survived by his son, Joe Copeland and wife Paula of Vidalia, Georgia; grandsons, Jacob Copeland, and Daniel Copeland; and numerous nephews, nieces, and extended family.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2019 from 6pm - 8pm, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home.
