Mala Ann Webb Hughes, 80, of Moultrie, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Westview Cemetery, with Reverend Dr. Rich Wright and Reverend Amanda Hughes officiating.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Born on August 7, 1944, in Moultrie, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Randall Lavoyed Webb and Mary Etta Humphreys Webb. Mala graduated from Moultrie High, Class of 1962, and pursued higher education at Brenau University in Gainesville, Georgia, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. She dedicated her career to social work, helping countless individuals and families with kindness and understanding. After many years of service, she retired, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and selflessness.
Mala was a faithful member of First Methodist Church Moultrie, where her unwavering faith and love for her community were evident in her active participation and dedication. Her love for the Lord guided her every step, and she gave faithfully to the Methodist Children's Home, a cause close to her heart. She will be remembered for her steadfast faith, generous spirit, and profound impact on everyone who knew her.
She is survived by children, Dr. Michael Webb Hughes of Bishop, Georgia, Amanda “Mandy” Burney Hughes of Moultrie, and Sarah Sloan Hughes Pressley of Fountain Inn, SC; grandchildren, Jayda Hughes, Laurel Holden, Alton Hughes, Tyler Pressley, Logan Pressley, and Sloan Hinson; and brother, Andy Webb and wife Susie of Moultrie.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Baker Funeral Home.
