Margaret Foster Pope , Norman Park, GA Margaret Foster Pope age 83, of Norman Park, passed away surrounded by family at Cobblestone Health and Rehab Center on August 4th, 2016. Funeral service will be 4:00pm Sunday August 7, 2016 at Cool Springs Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Marlon Daniels officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00-4:00pm prior to service at the church. She was born in Danville, Virginia on November 20th, 1932, the daughter of James Harrelson Foster and Florence Elizabeth Dodd Foster. Her father moved his family to Burford, Ontario, Canada to grow tobacco when she was a young girl. She spent her childhood on the farm and graduated from Brantford Nursing School with a RN degree in 1954. As it was common for southern boy's familiar with gathering tobacco in the 50's, she met a handsome boy from Cool Springs, Georgia named J.A. Pope who was working on a neighboring farm. After falling in love, years of long distance correspondence, and J.A. entering the Army to serve in Korea for two years, they married in October 1954. He brought his bride to South Georgia and, together, they raised four sons: Jesse, Joe, Jimmy and Jeffery Pope. A long time employee, originally nursing at Vereen Memorial Hospital and later at Colquitt Regional Medical Center, she retired in 1989. Margaret loved her family, her pets, reading and writing poetry, yard sales, and consignment shops. She was a member of Cool Springs Freewill Baptist Church. Most of all, she loved her sweetheart J.A. She is preceded in death by her husband Jesse Andrew Pope, brother; Jim Foster and granddaughter; Celeste Pope. Survivors are sons; Jesse H. Pope and wife Susan of Norman Park, Joe Pope and wife Laura of Tifton, Jim Pope and wife Robbie of Tifton and Jeff Pope and friend Gail of Norman Park, sister; Betty Ames of Ontario, Canada, brother; Bob Foster and wife Debbie of Ontario, Canada, sisters-in-law; Shari Foster of Ontario, Canada and Thelma Stewart of Norman Park. Grandchildren; Jay Pope and wife Kristy, Jolie Pope McDaniel and husband Christopher, Jenna Noel Pope, Josh Pope and wife Lauren, Jordan Pope and wife Marcy, Jessica Pope, Lori Jackson, Niki Wade and husband Brooks, Wendy Spurlin and husband Anthony, Joe Hicks and wife Carrie, and 12 great grandchildren.
